can't see the forrest...

I was going through photos from a trip we took to Colorado last summer and realized I never shared a couple of my favorites.  Happy Tuesday :)

us [january]

I'm late, I know.  But better late than never, right?  Here's my monthly entry for January.

Stepan is working on getting Echo Repro (a large-format print company) going.

Sarah is evaluating what to do w/ photography.  Again.

But she’s falling in love with it.  Again.

Sarah is praying about going to Sudan in late May/early June to document the ministry some friends are a part of.

We bought an Ikea sectional sofa and it’s one of the best purchases we’ve EVER made.

We’re huge fans of Fuddrucker’s, but beginning to eat more salads at home as well.

We’re trying to eat better and walk the dogs more.

Stepan is doing Economics in school.

God continues to provide.  We have more in the bank now than when we both had steady work!

PERMANENT (GO/venture2 : day4)

So I'm getting all kinds of nifty little things from Tara Whitney lately.  Along w/ the monthly personal project (which I've found my January photos, I just have to post them), I stumbled upon this project put together by Kal Barteski and Elise Blaha.  And today's prompt happens to be PERMANENT.

I think as a Christ-follower, this is the first thing that pops into my head as being permanent in my life.  I mean REALLY PERMANENT, not just the world's idea of what permanent is. (And it's a good thing I didn't have to think long b/c I really don't have time to be goofing off on the computer since I've got to be getting ready for a possible 20 people cramming into our humble abode for the Big Game on Sunday!)

sunrise

These are a little old.  Last October Stepan and I took a little road trip that started earlier in the day than what I'm accustomed to lately.  It's too bad b/c when I finally get out I really love this time of day.

I needed some sunrise shots for a client and it kind of turned into us just goofing off.  Good times...

I hope everyone's had a great Wednesday!

i have a confession

I am a self-proclaimed flake.  I'm horrible about getting really excited about something, sticking with it for a little while and then letting it fall by the wayside like roadkill.  Please don't think I want to be this way.  I really don't.  Since I've begun to notice this about myself I've found that I'm quite leary of even starting things.  Again, I don't want to be this way... *sigh*.

So when I saw this personal project on Tara Whitney's blog I, of course, LOVED it- but immediately began the all too familiar back-and-forth conversation in my head.  But I think I'm going to do it.  I NEED to do it.  I've been wanting a personal photography project and this would be perfect.  I'm really hoping this next year is full of new, exciting, hope-filled experiences for us.  The last few months have left me feeling lost.  Lost in Midland.  Lost in photography.  Lost in business.  Lost as a friend.  [almost] Lost spiritually.  Honestly, it's been kind of yucky.  So this will be good.  Yes, I'm going to do it.  I'm going to get some accountability (namely Stepan) and make this happen.

One of the big draws of this project is also that it culminates in a newfound enjoyment.  One of the downsides of photography being so stinkin' digital nowadays is that I've printed hardly any of my work for our own enjoyment.  My friend Allison told me about a website a couple of years ago to make books through and I didn't check it out until just recently.  I put together my first book of the nieces and nephew at our evening on the Santa Barbara beach during the holidays.  Just so you know, the preview of thie book is just a sampling, not the whole thing.  Of course I ordered one for them and one for my in-laws, but didn't order one for us.  I'll have to jump on that.  Anyways, I used to be a closet coffee table book hoarder and I think it's time to pick that back up.  But this time they'll be more personal.

This isn't my photo for January (I'll have to play catch-up), but it is one of the few pictures I've actually taken of Stepan and happens to be my favorite.  We were on our way up to Denver last summer and had to take a detour through a small town b/c of road construction.  They put up these signs warning of contruction noise.  Cracks me up every time.

Happy Monday, everyone...
